Gold Pilates: Frequently Asked Questions

Can I attend just one class?2024-12-30T08:02:31+00:00

No, you cannot attend just one class. Our classes are booked as part of a progressive course of 6-8 sessions. Each week our course gently progresses so that you get fitter, stronger and more flexible week by week.

If you would like to try a class why not book a pre-class introduction. See more here.

What if I miss a class?2024-12-30T08:02:45+00:00

Don’t worry if you need to miss a class, your instructor will continue to work with you when you are back. Our small class sizes mean we can support our clients 1:1.

We also offer online catch up sessions. We have live stream classes on Wednesdays at 6.30pm and pre-recorded classes by your physios each term. Both of these can be accessed on the members area. It is free as part of your programme membership.

We cannot carry missed sessions over into the next programme or offer refunds for any missed classes.

I’m new Pilates, when can I join?2024-12-30T08:03:17+00:00

New clients are welcome to join us at the start of each course block (normally in week 1 or 2) but sometimes we can accommodate new clients in a course in progress. Contact us, we would love to help.

If you are looking to join a mixed ability class then we highly recommend booking in a pre-class introduction for some 1:1 time with your class physio before the course starts. You can book these in advance of joining your course. See more here.

Gold Pilates – How long are the classes2024-12-30T08:03:27+00:00

Pilates classes last roughly 1hour. They are a tailored programme of exercises from your mat. Sometimes we use small equipment like weights or bands too. Your instructor will led you through a warm up, your exercises and a cool down, offering individual support and adaptations all the way through.

I have osteoporosis. Is it ok for me to do Pilates?2024-12-23T07:26:12+00:00

In most cases yes. We advise you check with your GP before starting any new exercise routine if you have health problems but in most cases exercise is encouraged.

Our team are all health care professionals and have an excellent understanding of osteoporosis and how it can affect you. We recommend booking a pre-class introduction before joining our classes. This focused 1:1 time to help you exercise safely and most effectively.

Pilates is adapted in small ways to protect your spine if you have osteoporosis. But, it offers many benefits. Pilates can help improve your posture and your balance. It can help you increase strength and lessen the risk of falls.

I have joint problems, can I do Pilates?2024-12-30T08:05:55+00:00

Yes. Many of those who join our classes start because they want to improve a problem area. Pilates exercises help you to stretch out tight muscles, mobilise stiff joints and strengthen weak muscles. Exercise therapy, like Pilates, is recommended by Arthritis UK and the NHS in the management of many joint and muscle problems.

Pilates is low impact and can be adapted to avoid aggravating any problem areas. Our expert instructors have the knowledge, experience and skills to help.

You may wish to book a pre-class introduction to give you some 1:1 time and help you get the most out of your sessions.

I am not very agile, is Pilates for me?2025-08-27T21:09:00+01:00

Absolutely! Pilates is designed to be adaptable for all fitness levels, including beginners and those with limited mobility or flexibility. Our instructors offer modifications and support throughout the class to ensure you feel comfortable and confident. It’s a great way to gently build strength, improve posture, and increase mobility at your own pace.
