Carers are welcomed and encouraged to join in the fun too! Play, move and learn together supported by of our senior physiotherapist team.

Before your session
Before we meet you we will ask you a little about your problem to match you with the right physiotherapist.
We will then ask you to complete a pre-session questionnaire. This includes questions about any COVID-19 symptoms to ensure that our clinics stay COVID secure. Your physiotherapist uses the clinical information in this form to help guide their assessment of you.
Physiotherapy Assessment:
At your initial appointment your physiotherapist will ask you some questions about you, your life style, your health and your problem. This is important in helping them make a diagnosis and guiding your treatment programme.
With your consent, your physiotherapist will then perform an ‘objective assessment’. This involves them looking at the body part in question, how you move and doing some specific tests. Your physiotherapist will explain each part of the process to you and explain what they are finding as they go.
Depending on the problem area your physiotherapist may ask you to remove some clothing for this part of the session. Please dress with this in mind. Leggings, shorts and a vest or t-shirt can all be good choices depending on the body parts your physiotherapist will be assessing.
After the assessment your physiotherapist will explain their findings to you and work with you to develop a treatment programme
Physiotherapy Treatment
Your physiotherapist will discuss all appropriate treatment options with you. These may include manual therapy, exercise therapy and specialist treatment techniques such as acupuncture or taping.
They will also explain how you can help ease the problem in your day to day life.
Physiotherapy treatment is often graded. Your physiotherapist will talk to you about long term management of your problem and may suggest follow up appointments to help you with this.

Yes. Pilates compliments faster paced sports and exercise programmes well. Running for example is good for cardiovascular fitness but can leave you feeling tight and with muscle imbalances. Pilates helps you build core strength, flexibility and address muscle imbalances. This can help you prevent injury and improve your performance.
Best of all, practicing physio led Pilates helps you to understand your body. When you are your own movement expert you can carry this with you into all your activities.
No, all you need to start is a mat. Pilates uses your own body to provide the resistance and load. You can work at all levels without any special equipment at all.
Once you get going you might find it useful to purchase some small bits of equipment to add variety and help develop more advanced techniques. Your instructor can help you with this. We might suggest spiky balls, resistance bands, or a strap for stretching.
