How our Postnatal Pilates courses work?
Our postnatal classes last 45mins with coffee time before or after. Postnatal Pilates classes are a specialist and tailored programme of mat based Pilates exercises designed for the postnatal period. Your instructor will led you through a warm up, your exercises and a cool down, offering individual support and adaptations all the way through.
Our physios design a bespoke Pilates programme for each course. Physio led Pilates also means that our instructors make adaptations, modifications and adjustments for each and every individual in our classes, so wherever you are in your postnatal recovery you are most welcome. Our postnatal physios are happy to support Mums recovering from pelvic girdle pain, Mums with lower back pain, Mums with pelvic floor dysfunction or weakness and Mums with diastasis recti, as well as Mums who would just like to feel a little more like their pre-pregnancy self.
Babies and toddlers are welcome to attend postnatal Pilates with you. We supply toys, play gyms and mats for your little ones to enjoy next to you if you wish to bring them along.
Our classes run as part of a course programme. They aren’t drop in, meaning you don’t have to repeat the same things each week. Gradually your programme will build up, helping you get fitter, stronger, and more in tune with your body as the course goes on. Courses are usually 6-8 weeks long and run consecutively. Each term your exercises will progress with you.
Before or after the class we offer coffee, biscuits and postnatal wellbeing talks. Here you will find a safe space to discuss pelvic floor muscles, back problems, returning to exercise and to chat to a specialist physio about any concerns you have.
If you are new to Pilates we recommend booking in with us for a pre-class introduction before your first class. This gives you some 1:1 time with your physio so they can understand your delivery, assess for recti divarication and go over the basics of Pilates one-to-one. Find out more about pre-class assessments here.
New clients are welcome to join us at the start of each course block (normally in week 1 or 2) but sometimes we can accommodate new clients in a course in progress. Contact us, we would love to help.
